Best Beers of the Year 2024 – Finest Beer Selection
Fantastic news comes from the Finest Beer Selection: Guerrilla®, Giant Step, and Pizzapils® have been recognized as the best beers of the year during the Finest Beer Selection 2024.
For Guerrilla® and Giant Step, this is the second consecutive year that they have been selected as the best beers of the year, while for Pizzapils®, it marks the second prestigious international recognition after winning gold at the Brussels Beer Challenge 2023.
This also confirms the quality of the 2023 hop harvest selection. We can therefore say that this year is, and will be, another excellent year for our hoppy beers.
What is the Finest Beer Selection?
Imagine a quality guide for beers, similar to the ratings assigned to wines by the most renowned critics (such as Robert Parker, Jancis Robinson, Wine Spectator). The Finest Beer Selection is exactly that: a reliable compass to navigate the world of beers, designed for breweries, merchants, and enthusiasts. Organized by top-level experts such as Doemens and Meininger Verlag, this competition stands out for its unique methodology.
It’s important to note that Doemens is the only educational institution in the world authorized to confer the title of Biersommelier, which is recognized internationally. This certificate attests to the expertise acquired in the field, ensuring a very high level of preparation.
The Finest Beer Selection goes beyond a simple beer comparison and offers a thorough and rigorous sensory evaluation. During blind tastings, an international jury of 50 experts analyzes each beer individually, creating a detailed aromatic profile. The beers are evaluated on a transparent scale from 1 to 100, and only those that score 90 points or more enter the exclusive selection of the year.
